• Do not use defective pad, e.g. torn pad or broken seal.
• Use a polyethylene liner in an appropriate shipping container.
• Place a sheet of tissue on the packing material and over the sides of the box (optional).
• If tissue is used, fold it over the top of the grapes.
• Place a single pad containing Sodium Meta Bisulfite over the grapes.
• Fold the polyethylene liner over the pad. Seal the box.
• Place boxes of packed grapes in refrigerated storage at 30– 32 F and over 85% RH.
• Pads must be removed and disposed prior to displaying grapes for sale.
• Do not allow consumers access to pads.
• If pad is torn:carefully dispose of pad,pad contents and grape which have contacted pad contents.

• Sulfured dioxide or so2 is recognized for its fungicidal action on botrytis cinerea, a common fungus on table grapes. By controlling the development of botryt is cinerea, table grapes can be kept fresh during storage and transportation.

• Grape guards or so2 pads are the most practical and cost effective devices that can release small quantities of so2, maintaining the fruit fresh for long periods of time after harvest. Grape guards were develop in the united states in the mid 1960`s and therefore there is ample experience on its usage and effects.
